Rentenfonds

Rentenfonds ist ein Investmentfonds der sich hauptsächlich aus Anleihen – auch Rentenpapiere genannt zusammensetzt. Dadurch, dass Rentenfonds in ihrer Investmentstrategie auf verzinsliche Titel beschränkt sind, ist ihr Erfolg hoch korreliert mit der aktuellen Zinsentwicklung und -politik der Zentralbanken. Eine überdurchschnittlich gute Rendite erwirtschaften Rentenfonds in Zeiten von sinkenden Zinsen, während die Performance bei steigenden Zinsen eher unterdurchschnittlich ausfällt. Die Anleger setzen sich bei der Partizipation an einem Rentenfonds also einem hohen Zinsänderungsrisiko aus. Abgesehen von der hohen Zinsempfindlichkeit des Instruments entwickeln sich Rentenfonds im Vergleich zu anderen Investmentfonds sehr stabil. Außerdem erwirtschaften Rentenfonds für ihre Anleger stetige Erträge in Form von regelmäßigen Dividendenzahlungen und besitzen gegenüber einer Direkteinlage ein wesentlich niedrigeres Kursrisiko. Durch die Beimischung von hochverzinslichen und risikoreichen Anleihen kann der Fondsmanager größere Chancen für die Anleger des Rentenfonds generieren. Man spricht in so einem Fall oft von sogenannten „High Yield“-Fonds. Eine weitere Klassifikation von Rentenfonds erfolgt über die jeweils vornehmlich genutzte Anleihen-Form.

Bei der Evaluation eines Investments in einen Rentenfonds sollte stets dessen Zusammensetzung analysiert werden. Wenn ein Rentenfonds sehr hohe Zinsen aufweist, so hängt das meist damit zusammen, dass die enthaltenen Anleihen von Schuldnern niederer Bonität emittiert wurden. Dies wirkt sich dann negativ auf die „Bonität“ des Rentenfonds aus. Hohe Chancen bedeuten bei Rentenfonds also immer auch höhere Risiken.
